School’s track this evening as I left the library. The emptiness, the lights, the fresh cut grass, the perfect temperature, the Saint Louis skyline in the background…
Had I not already run intervals that day, I would have run the heck out of that track right then.
It’s an hour, but I found it quite interesting. And now…I think I’ll go for a run.

Oh my.
Photo after the World Championships 10,000m. Jeilan was 1st, #6 (Mo Farah) was 2nd.
Intervals
57-55-54-53-52-52-51-50 aren’t bad splits for some 300s - at least they were going in the right direction. And the track is pretty much brand new, and it overlooks downtown St. Louis, so I had a nice skyline to look at every time I rounded the back corner.
Now, as part of the “First time on a track in way too long” event, let’s play the “Predict what part of me will be sore tomorrow” game.
My guesses: calves, quads, abs, upper back and shoulders.
Fun game.
The more testing, the better.
Another Bernard Lagat kick, does it work out as well this time? 2004 Athens Olympics 1500m final, dueling Hicham El Guerrouj.
P.S., this is one of my favorite races of all time to watch.

Even the commentators know: “and then the eyes get big, the knees go up, and he pumps hard.”

I hold my contention that Bernard Lagat has the best finishing face in all of track and field. Is there an emoticon for eyes wide open?
8o ?

“Track and Field” is pretty interesting. Big spikes for the Olympics (04, 08), smaller spikes for World Championships (05, 07, 09) as well as a big Bolt-WR spike in 2009. I can’t figure out the steady increase in the beginning of the years, though.
